Barbie World by Heidi Acosta - Book Tour, Book Review, Giveaway

BOOK ONE:
Barbie Girl by Heidi Acosta (Baby Doll #1)
Publication date: November 1st 2012
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance

The only thing that 17 year old Barbie Starr wants to do is graduate high school so she and her little brother, Everett, can get out of Alabama. She doesn’t care about the rumors that are spread around about her like wild fire. Rumors are nothing new to her. Sure, maybe she could change her reputation, but why bother. She is leaving Alabama as soon as she can. That is, if she can pass algebra and graduate.

The only thing Dylan Knight would like to do is go through high school unnoticed; he has had enough of the drama that is high school. He took the whole of last summer to bulk-up: finally he is not being called names or being shoved into lockers. He wants to remain on the outside of the circle of constant rumors that surround the so-called popular kids who get all the attention. He would not, however, mind if his long time crush Katie took notice of him.

But it is Barbie who notices Dylan and she offers him a deal he can’t pass up: if he helps her pass algebra, she’ll help him get the girl of his dreams. Dylan agrees, but, as it turns out, nothing is simple when it comes to Barbie. Somehow, she can’t help but draw attention to herself — and to him. Soon Dylan finds himself tossed into the whirlwind of rumors that seem to follow Barbie everywhere. Can he save his reputation and still get the girl of his dreams? Or will Barbie be the one to break through his carefully-built facade?

This left me feeling ....

This is why I love nerds!!! They will find the words that will just make you roll your eyeballs,
but will have your heart beating double the normal values.

I laugh, cried, fell in love, had my heart broken, sighed, relieved, and left wanting for more. I never expected Barbie Girl to be a real-page turner.
She is like a car accident, you don't want to look at it, but you can't help but assess the damage.
Barbie may be the school slut or according to what rumors says, but I like her. She's tough. She may set off the I-don't-care-what-you-think-about-me-attitude but there is more to her than her skimpy clothes and constant flirting with boys. There is only two things in life that she desperately wants: 1) get her high school diploma 2) get out of town with her little brother Everett. But first, she needs Dylan's help to pass her Algebra.

Dylan has everything he has in his disposal and he couldn't ask for more except for Katie to be his girlfriend. Despite the fact that he had work hard in gaining muscles and getting rid of his 'nerdiness', he still couldn't find the courage to tell her about what he feels. Then Barbie strutted into his life, and his world was never the same again.

She gave Dylan a deal of a lifetime - help her pass Algebra and she'll help him get Katie. He agreed reluctantly, but what he didn't expect is for Barbie to slowly enter his life, one cell at a time, until she reached his heart.

He is slowly killing me, slowly memorizing me with each kiss. Each kiss unties a carefully placed knot I tied myself, knots that hold me in place so tightly. He is single-handedly untying each and every one.
But high school is not a piece of heaven for some. Just when I think they are having their HEA, reality sets in.
Reality is like a cold splash of water. There are no fairy tales or happy endings in my story, no Prince Charming riding to rescue me. No, my reality is a harsh cold one.
Dylan was being a jerk, and an ass - I hated him for doing it to Barbie. I could literally tear him off the pages and then slap him so he could see reason. I'm not being biased (promise!), but I understood Barbie - her reasons why she thinks she needed to lie to Dylan. But somehow, I wished that she had told him the truth before all the drama happened - it would save them (and me) from broken hearts.

But as the old adage says, when God closes a door, he opens a window. In Barbie's case - he opened two. She may be loveless - but at least she gained two amazing friends. Third and Roxie were pretty amazing. These two secondary characters made Barbie's life bearable when Dylan disappeared from her life. They supported her and made sure she was fine. My heart goes out to Third, who despite being Dylan's best friend, was loyal to Barbie. He's adorable, and reminds me a lot of my brother :)

Barbie Girl is a novel of friendship, love, lost, heartbreak and survival. The romance could melt and break your heart. You will admire Barbie's strength and willingness to survive for her brother. The story of friendship will touch you to the core and lastly, the ending will leave you wanting for more!

Heidi Acosta brings you the heart felt story of friendship, love and heartbreak in the second book in of the Baby doll series Barbie World.

Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.

Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.

Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).

Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.
